5 Keys to Happiness

5 Keys to Happiness by Lori Ann

Many people feel like you need a laundry list of things to be truly happy. A loving partner and more money are two of the most common list-toppers. The truth is you're wrong! Happiness is a state of mind and finding true happiness comes from within so I've compiled a list of the traits I feel keep me happy, I'm not suggesting that these are the only keys to happiness, but they work for me!! I hope this helps you in your journey to happiness.

1. LOVE YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE- Accept and embrace yourself! The key to being happy is being comfortable in your skin. Always stay true to your character regardless of what other people think of you. Happiness comes from making the best of what you got, rather than wallow in your weaknesses or shortcomings.

2. NEVER FEEL LIKE YOU “NEED” SOMEONE- Relationships are certainly one of life’s greatest joys. However, many of us let their presence or lack thereof dictate our overall happiness. To be genuinely happy you need to find complete contentment within yourself and know that all relationships are just an awesome extension of life.

3. EMBRACE CHANGE- To be happy you need to be aware that life is a constant lesson,, and also be open to change.

4. CELEBRATE YOURSELF RATHER THAN COMPARE YOURSELF TO THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF OTHERS- Jealousy is a silent killer, and as Gary Allen once said, “You can be the moon and still be jealous of the stars.” We are all capable of accomplishing anything in this life and are the only ones who can find the drive within us to do so. Rather than observe and compare, use it as motivation to accomplish something in your own life.

5. LIVE IN THE PRESENT- It’s time to let go of the past and the painful memories, you have learned what they taught you… Move on! ‎”Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift.” – Oprah Winfrey
